Course Description
OSAC’s Certificate in English Language Proficiency (CELP) course aims to build up our student’s level of competency in the English Language so that they can live and study in an English Speaking Environment. The Elementary course brings students to Level B1/B2 of the Common European Framework (IELTS 4.5 – 5.0 equivalent / TOEFL IBT 53-64). Based on up-to-date topics of international interest, the course is delivered using the New Cutting Edge series, supplemented by PowerPoint presentations, use of the internet and other relevant activities. A graded-reading program is also incorporated into the course to reinforce language learning.
Entry Requirement
15 years old and above. Students will be required to take a Placement Test before enrolment.
Course Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
- Deal with the most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
- Produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest.
- Describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes, & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Graduation Criteria
Course Completion and Award Criteria
- Passed overall assessments.
- 90% class attendance for entire course (international students)
- 75% class attendance for entire course (all other students not on ICA's student pass)
Students who fulfill the above criteria will be awarded the “Certificate of English Language Proficiency-Elementary” by OSAC International College.
