Digital fabrication is a new and growing field that aims to revolutionise design and manufacturing. It provides for a widerange of job and business opportunities, many suited to internationalisation through the digital space. Access to newlyaccessible computer controlled machines allow designers, engineers, artists and craftspeople to prototype their own designsand complete the fabrication process in a ‘virtual environment’. Other advantages include more sustainable use ofresources, energy and cost saving by reducing expensive downstream changes.LIT and the WeCreate Workspace and Fab Lab have created this programme to provide students the opportunity to gaintechnical skills with CNC machines, 3D printers, 3D scanners, Laser and Vinyl cutters.
