Course details
The aim of the course is to provide students with the necessary skills to design and develop digital creative media products. These include computer games, multimedia products and web sites. Successful candidates will have acquired a broad range of skills, which qualifies them to either progress to higher education or to work in a range of digital media industries.
Work Experience:
Students will spend two weeks working in industry in the digital creative media area. The work placement is a planned experiential learning activity involving learners preparing and planning for work, working under direction in a specific vocational area and reviewing and evaluating that work.
Entry Requirements:
This course is aimed at students who have completed the Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, Leaving Certificate Vocational and mature students with an interest in Creative Media with suitable candidates being selected by interview.
Certification:
Successful students will receive a FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council) Level 5 certificate in Multimedia Production (5M2146). The course takes the format of continuous assessment based onassignments and project work.
Career Progression:
Successful candidates will have acquired a broad range of skills in the digital creative media area which qualifies them to work in a range of digital media industries. Alternatively, candidates may apply through the Central Applications Office for admission to a range of courses in Multimedia, Film and Video, Music and Games Technologies.
