    Course details

    Transport of dangerous goods by sea is regulated in order to prevent injury to persons or damage to ships and their cargoes. Transport of marine pollutants is primarily regulated to prevent harm to the marine environment. The objective of the IMDG Code is to enhance the safe transport of dangerous goods while facilitating the free unrestricted movement of such goods. The course aims to impart understanding and application skills in IMDG Code.

    The new amendments to the IMDG Code are mandatory as from 1 January 2010. Amongst the many detailed changes introduced by Amendment 34-08 is the "appropriate training for shore-side staff involved with dangerous goods is now mandatory instead of just recommended, and may be audited by the competent authority (MPA, Singapore). Persons not yet trained may only operate under the direct supervision of a trained person".

    Design for

    Personnel from shipping, freight forwarding, logistics, transportation and warehousing companies who are involved in handling and transporting of dangerous goods.

    Certification

    A Certificate in Applying IMDG Code will be awarded upon successful completion of the course. Participants must fulfil 75% attendance and pass the required examination. Participant who fails the examination,will be granted a re-examination. In the event, if the participant did not pass the re-examination, he would have to re-enrol for the course if he wishes to obtain the certificate.
