Certificate III in Shopfitting

Course details

This course is offered as an apprenticeship - but you can also study the course as an on campus course without an apprenticeship.

As an apprentice shopfitter, you will learn how to design, plan and construct basic fittings and storage units. You will need to register with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre and identify an employer who will supervise your apprenticeship.

Your training will involve learning how to set out and assemble cabinets, showcases, wall units, counters and workstations. You will gain skills in fabricating and installing shopfront commercial entries and joinery components. You will learn how to cut and install glass, prepare surfaces, apply finishes and operate construction equipment and machinery.

You will also learn how to read and interpret plans, carry out measurements and calculations, communicate effectively in the workplace and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

You may take elective training in work safety, operating specialist tools and machinery, installing and assembling, or project costing, calculation and drafting.
