Course details
This course covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a range of service and repair tasks on a Mobile Plant. It is suitable for entry into Mobile Plant (heavy vehicle) service and repair industry.
You will learn how to service and repair Mobile plant braking systems, cooling systems, tracked type drive and support systems, steering systems, engines and associated engine components, starting systems, charging systems, final drive assemblies, power shift transmissions, electronic compression ignition engine management systems and emission control systems.
You will also learn how to test and repair electrical circuits and systems, manufacture and install fluid power hose assemblies, repair hydraulic systems and carry out oxy welding, thermal cutting and heating.

This course may provide you with employment opportunities in the mobile plant industry as a mechanic.
Please Note: It is mandatory to be employed in the mobile plant industry to undertake an apprenticeship.

Further training pathways from this qualification include Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling or other relevant qualifications.
