Course details
This qualification will allow you to enter the industry with a recognised qualification as a florist. The floristry environments may include traditional retail floristry shops, studios and floristry businesses who sell via the internet or phone. You will learn basic construction skills and techniques for items such as bunch, bouquets, boxed arrangements, table centres and basic wired items such as corsages and buttonholes.
You will extend on the basic floristry practical skills and design and construct complex floristry items suitable for corporate, function, wedding and funeral work. You will also learn floristry specific operational subjects focusing on floristry stock, including recognising, receiving, storing, preparing and caring for, as well as units on sourcing floristry stock and displays and merchandising.
You will be signed up as an apprentice and have the opportunity to compete for various awards.
What employment opportunities will I have?
You will be employed as a floristry apprentice during this course. On completion of the apprenticeship you will be able to continue employment as a fully qualified florist.

Will my previous experience or study count?
Advanced Standing is approved recognition of prior learning that is displayed as an Exemption (EX) on the student’s academic record. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) takes into account the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained through your previous education and work. This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to your chosen course.
What will I study?
You will be required to complete 16 core and 5 elective units.
