Course details
The Certificate II in Electro-technology studies provides students with work ready skills to gain employment in the refrigeration and electrical trade sector. Most industry employers require their potential apprentices to have completed, or in the process of completing a certificate II (Pre-Apprenticeship) and this course can provide students with a better chance of gaining employment than those who have not completed this qualification.
The course provides students with the training and knowledge needed to work safely with electrical equipment, wiring, power tools, hand tools and appliances. They will discover the principles of electricity and refrigeration systems, through using a blended learning approach. While this method will enable our students to acquire additional computer application skills relevant to the electrical industry, it at the same time will improve on their literacy, numeracy and communication skills. We will endeavour to teach our students lifelong skills to enable them to prosper well after their training here at Box Hill Institute.
The most important skill deemed by industry is work readiness skills and employers know Box Hill Institute students are all ready to work with little or no initial training.
