The Certificate: Fashionmaking provides the relevant knowledge and practical skills to support entry-level positions in the fashion design environment. Skills and competencies supported by the programme include, amongst others, the ability to buy and look after tools, equipment and sewing machines, understanding the terminology used in fashion design and sewing, choose suitable fabrics for specific garments, cut, mark and sew fabrics, construct, fit and alter garments and adapt basic patterns to create fashion garments. The qualification supports access into further studies in this field.
