What is this course about?
The aim of this course is to give students an understanding of the major issues involved in the psychological development of human beings and how psychological theory can be applied in social and community care settings. Students will be introduced to the main theories and language of psychology.
This course is an ECTS 10 credit Level 6 of the BA (Honours) in Applied Social Studies (Professional Social Care).
This course should not be considered as a complete programme in Psychology but an introduction to the subject with an emphasis on social and community care settings
On completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Describe the different perspectives within psychology;
- Describe the major theoriesconcerned with human psychological development;
- Critically evaluate theoretical perspectives;
- Apply psychological theories to social and community care settings.
What are the minimum entry requirements?
All applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Lifelong Learning reserves the right to require applicants to attend for an interview to determine their suitability for the programme.
