Introduction
This course is aimed at anyone who has an interest in car maintenance and who wish to join the automotive industry. It will also be of interest to students who want to gain a formal qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and also to those who simply want to expand their knowledge of Motor Vehicle Maintenance. The course is designed to help you develop occupational knowledge and carry out practical tasks.
Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate with 5 passes or Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent. If you are a mature student these requirements need not apply and applications will be considered based on a proven interest in Motor Vehicle Technology. Entry may be subject to interview/assessment.

Course Structure
This course is designed to equip students with a good basic knowledge of the practical and theoretical aspects of Motor Car Technology. You will learn theoretical and practical aspects of the essential knowledge and skills required in today's motor vehicle repair industry. You will also learn about health and safety in the workplace and other skills needed to work in a garage.
Career Options | Progression
Graduates from this course will have acquired a nationally recognised qualification which will enable them to compete for employment or an apprenticeship in the motor industry. This qualification can also be used to apply for a range of courses in Institutes of Technology nationwide through the QQI entry route.
