Course details
Introduction
This course is designed for learners who are considering a career within the building industry. It also provides a firm foundation for entry into relevant third level courses or onto apprenticeships. Successful participants will receive a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Construction Technology.
Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate with 5 passes (preferably to include Mathematics, Construction Studies or another technical subject), or Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent. If you are a mature student these requirements need not apply and applications may be considered based on a proven interest in construction. Entry may be subject to interview/assessment.

Course Structure
The course is designed to give leaners a firm foundation in the skills required in the construction sector. It covers a range of topics which are both interesting and relevant in today's market. Elements of the course will contain both theory and practical sessions where learners will be encouraged to work on their own to the best of their ability.
Career Options | Progression
Holders of a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Construction Technology may progress to a variety of trade apprenticeships or to Institutes of Technology through the Higher Education Links Scheme. The course also prepares learners for employment opportunities in the construction industry with building contractors, architects, quantity surveyors and local authorities.
