Course details
This aim of this course is to provide RGNs with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of holistic care and relevant issues when caring for an older person.
Topics covered will include theories of ageing, woundcare, palliative care, dementia and others.
On successful completion of the course, participants will:
- Identify factors associated with the normal ageing process
- Gain knowledge of how to promote, maintain and provide Individual holistic care to the older person
- Gain an insight into caring for an older person with specific diseases
- Review and discuss the roles of the multidisciplinary team when caring for the older person
- Identification of the National HIQA Standards in Caring for the Older Person
- Complete workshops in woundcare management and dementia care-challenging behaviours
- Participants will identify the palliative care core competencies required by Nurses when providing a palliative approach as set out by the Palliative Care Competence Framework HSE 2014.
This course is aimed at qualified nursing staff and has Category 1 Approval, CEU’s Continuing Education Units from An Bord Altranais.
