    This intensive full time PLC (Post Leaving Cert) course will provide students with the knowledge and skills to work in the business environment and to develop typing speed of at least 35 words per minute. This course in business studies gives the students the solid foundation in the academic and practical skills required for a career in any of the business areas.

    • Reception and Frontline Office Skills

    • Spreadsheet Method
    • Occupational First Aid
    • Elective modules may vary each year

    Work Experiene Placement is an integral part of this course. Students must obtain 10 days Work Experience for the academic year in a relevant business environment.

    Entry Requirements:

    • Successful performance at interview
    • Leaving Cert (traditional or applied)
    • Other qualification at NFQ Level 4 (e.g. FETAC Level 4 Award)
    • Mature students with appropriate vocational experiences

    Progression:

    This award facilitates entry on a competitive basis to a range of third level institutions nationwide leading to awards at the next or higher levels of the National Framework of Qualifications. Career prospects include: Office Secretary, Clerical Assistant, Receptionist, Data Entry Operator, Personal Assistant, Customer Service role. These positions may be available in both the public and private sector e.g. Financial Insitutions, Government Departments, Insurance Companies, Accountancy Firms etc.
