The aim of this course is to provide students with an opportunity to build on the knowledge gained in the level 5 award and to enhance their job prospects and/or allow them access further educational opportunities.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates require a Business related QQI Level 5-FETAC Level 5 award or equivalent.All students are interviewed and places are awarded on suitability.

Mature candidates who do not have formal qualifications but who have appropriate business experience are also welcome to apply.

COURSE CONTENT

The following subjects may be offered:

Marketing Management

The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to analyse, evaluate and critically apply marketing management principles and practice to a range of contexts working independently and or taking responsibility for the work of others and or to progress to higher education and training.

Business Law

The purpose of this subject is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the principles and practice of the law and legislation as applicable to business.To enable the learner to work independently and or supervise the work of others in a business context and or to progress to higher education and training.

Business Management

The purpose of this subject is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the principles and practice of management within the business environment to enable the learner to develop management skills to work independently or within a supervisory capacity.

Customer Service

Students will evaluate the key principals and practices of customer service and gain an understanding of consumer legislation. Students will design organisation charts for different types of business structures and examine the area of customer service and strategic planning.

Word processing

The purpose of this subject is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to use a word processing application to produce complex documents within a range of specific contexts working independently and or taking responsibility for the work of others.

Applied Economics

The purpose of this subject is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the concepts and principles underpinning economic theory,to enable the learner to formulate responses to well defined business scenario using diagnostic and creative economic skills, and or progress to higher education and training.

Work Experience

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to participate in the workplace for a limited time, carrying out work-related tasks autonomously and/or in a supervisory capacity.
