Introduction

This qualification in Business Studies is designed to provide students with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in future employment or for advanced progression to an undergraduate business degree programme.

The Certificate in Business Studies (Year 1) provides learners with a solid grounding in the fundamentals of business with key modules in Accounting, Marketing, IT Applications and Communications. Learners will also have the opportunity to engage in work experience.

The Advanced Certificate in Business Studies (Year 2) builds on the concepts learned in Year 1 and further develops the learners skills, enhancing employment prospects in growing areas of economic activity including Marketing and Financial Services.

Entry Requirements

Year 1

Leaving Certificate/LCA

• Applicants should have achieved five passes at ordinary level. LCA applicants should submit details of credits awarded.

Other including Mature Student

• Applicants without the entry requirements are welcome and will be assessed individually.

Year 2

Applicants must have successfully completed Year 1 or hold an equivalent qualification at QQI Level 5 (subject to having completed relevant modules).
