Our City & Guilds based Business Finance training course, which is available at levels 1-3, aims to provide learners with an understanding of a variety of numerical, graphical & financial formats sufficient to provide useful information for monitoring, decision making and problem solving. It also evaluates learners ability to apply, calculate and use numerical skills within a business context.

Who Should Attend?

  • This course is for Managers, Supervisors, Accounts Staff or Administrative Staff with a responsibility for planning and budgets or with a need to understand basis financial reporting.
  • It is also suited to entrepreneurs with no financial background.
  • Those seeking employment in the business finance area will also find this course of great benefit.

Course Objectives:

  • There are 3 levels covered in this course with different objectives in each level,
  • At Level 1 the content is designed to give learners a basic foundation in business finance which will enable them to develop more advance skills at the next two levels.
  • At Level 2 learners will enhance their the understanding of the routine tasks of budgeting, costing, performance measurement and credit control commonly required by first level management in a business
  • At Level 3 learners will further enhance their analytical abilities to assist and advise management in monitoring & control, decision making and problem solving. It provides learners with a sound basis for pursuing a higher level education in both accounting and management accounting.

  • Introduction to Business Finance
  • Application of numerical skills to business
  • Understand information given to you by your accounts team
  • Understand and prepare budgets for the company
  • A look at the deviations that can occur in budgets
  • Gain knowledge and practical experience in principals of credit control
  • The terminology and methods used in the accounts and finance area
  • Decision making and understanding account information
  • Training Methods:
  • Classroom based power-point presentation & interactive discussion.
  • There will also be course hand-outs, and group exercises.

Additional Information:

  • Maximum of 10 participants
  • City and Guilds Certificate in Level 1, 2 & 3 will be issued to learners who pass the examination at the end of each section.
