Course details

The Buillt Environment Custodial Supervisor Skills Certificate was developed to provide continual skills upgrading for certified Building Custodians/Built Environment Custodians to a Built Environment Custodial Supervisor to undertake higher level skills work in planning and control of custodial services operations.

The course will equip trainees with higher order WSQ supervisory skills and hard and soft skills to supervise, plan, organise and control Built Environment Custodial services work and workgroups to ensure productivity and provide proactive service to clients and building occupants-users.

Course Overview

The course comprises of five modules:

M1. WSQ Supervise Work Improvement Process

  • Plan Work Improvement Activities
  • Implement Work Improvement Processes
  • Standardise Improved Work Processes

M2. WSQ Supervise Quality Procedures

  • Plan Daily Quality Control Activities
  • Facilitate and Control process quality
  • Maintain Process Quality

M3. Fundaments of Built Environment Custodial Work

  • Buildings & Building Environment Overview
  • Environmental Sustainability & Green Practices
  • Custodial Services & Performance Requirements
  • Custodial Checking & Service Expectations
  • Custodial Services Workers & Workforce
  • Custodial Services Work Execution

M4. Supervisory Skills, Customer Service & Work Ethics

  • Role of Supervisor in Custodial Services
  • Supervisory Hard Skills
  • Supervisory Soft Skills
  • Customer Service
  • Work Ethics

M5. Planning, Organising & Controlling Built Environmental Custodial Services Work

  • Work Planning
  • Work Organisation

Entry Requirements

All trainees must have written English and Mathematics proficiency at a lower secondary level or ESS WPLN 3/4.  In addition,

  • Certified Building Custodians/Built Environment Custodian Upgraders must have worked at least six months after completion of training
  • Existing Supervisor Upgraders must have worked in the job/industry for at least three months
  • New placements must have held a supervisory position before, preferably in any built environment service.

Progression to Property Assistant and Beyond

Progression and skills upgrading to a Property Assistant and beyond is available via the SRP-REMMI Lifelong Learning Roadmap.
