Course details

You know the R language, so why not put it to work building apps that the entire internet can enjoy?

This is a course designed to teach R users how to create beautiful and useful web apps without ever needing to learn the subtleties and frustrations of cross-browser HTML, Javascript, and CSS.

This course:

  1. Covers the basics of how Shiny apps work.
  2. Covers all commonly used input/output/rendering/paneling functions from the Shiny library.
  3. Contains full source code for three course project apps, along with walk-through videos, from sketch-up to code to the app going live.
  4. Demonstrates how to host apps on Amazon Cloud Compute servers for use by the general public.

The videos are concise. We only go over working, pre-written code. That means you don't have to sit there bored waiting for me to type out content, and you can use those files as starting points for your projects!

All example projects include a walk-through of the code, the source code itself with thorough comments, and HD-quality demonstration videos.

The course will probably take 6-10 hours to complete, depending on how much prior experience you have with subjects that we cover.

For R beginners: I recommend working through Jagannath Rajagopal's Introduction to R course to understand R before moving on to Shiny!

Advice From Students: use full-screen video with 720p quality (otherwise you may not be able to read code samples in the videos).
