This course provides step-by-step instructions for building and hosting a static website and blog using programs written in Python.

If you have always wanted a simple but continuously updated website and blog online, this course will help you achieve that objective.

If you currently have a website with static HTML pages and would like to move to a solution that makes use of HTML templates. This course makes use of Pelican, as static site generator with support for Jinja2 templates.

In this course, we will

  1. Install Python, Pelican, Virtualenv, Git and other programs required for building and hosting the website.
  2. Learn how to create and work with virtual Python environments.
  3. Build a basic site structure and add pages and posts.
  4. Deploy (host) the website online on Github. You can also upload the generated files to your web host using FTP or other means.

This course can be completed in a day or two.
