The Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Hospitality Management provides opportunities for learners to apply their knowledge and practical skills in the workplace. The qualification prepares learners for employment in the hospitality industry and will be suitable for learners who have already decided that they wish to enter this area of work.

Function of this qualification:
Graduating with a Pearson BTEC HND Level 5 in Business opens the door to a number of exciting careers across several industries. Many graduates go on to work in retailing and distribution, importing/exporting and the Civil Service, among other sectors.
UNIT OUTLINE
The course comprises of 16 modules delivered in 15 months period for a total of 960 guided learning hours. Learners must achieve a minimum of 240 credits (of which at least 125 must be at level 5). Students are required to complete seven (7) compulsory core modules and nine (9) specialist modules. The college reserves the right to offer any combination of the nine specialist modules.
It is the Centre's responsibility to ensure that the following are adhered to for Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in Hospitality Management (QCF):
- Qualification credit value: a minimum of 240 credits. (A maximum of 30 credits may be at level 6)
- Minimum credit to be achieved at the level of the qualification (level 5): 125 credits.
- Mandatory core unit credit: 110 credits
- Specialist unit credit: 130 credits
- A maximum of 60 credits can be centre devised or imported from other QCF Pearson BTEC Higher National Qualifications to meet local needs. Level rules and mandatory core units must not be changed.
ASSESSMENT
Introduction
As stated above for some modules the components of assessment are
- 100% assignment based
The assessment of Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Hospitality Management (QCF) is purely assignment based. The purpose of assessment is to ensure that effective learning of the content of each unit has taken place. Evidence of this learning, or the application of the learning, is required for each unit and the assessment of the evidence relates directly to the assessment criteria for each unit. Assessment instruments are created to fit the purpose of the module.
Should a learner fail to meet any assessment criteria of the learning outcomes at first attempt, one resubmission of evidence for each assignment may be granted subject to the set conditions of resubmission guidelines. Failure to meet the assessment criteria at second attempt will result to a redo of the entire module.
Referrals
When a student fails to obtain a minimum of the assessment then referral may be granted. There will only be two referral attempts per module which must be taken within the course eligibility period.
GRADUATION CRITERIA
Students must obtain at least a grade of Pass to successfully complete a module. With an overall passing mark, the student will then qualify for graduation.
