    Programme Overview

    This 1 year, full time programme provides an introduction to all aspects of radio broadcasting and journalism. The broadcasting industry is an exciting one, attracting people who are confident communicators with an interest in pursuing a career that is both varied and interesting. The College has made a significant investment in equipping two state-of-the-art recording studios, resulting in a particularly well-resourced programme.

    * Learners must obtain practical work experience, preferably in Print Media; Radio; TV; Communications; Film or Theatre. Work Experience is a requirement for full certification.

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants must have Leaving Certificate, LCA or equivalent.

    Holders of a QQI Level 4 Award are also eligible to apply.

    Mature learners (over 23) may be exempt from the above academic requirements.

    In addition applicants will have to undertake an interview.

    Award holders may apply for a place on the Advanced Certificate in Media/Radio Level 6 programme in LCFE

    This Media programme has direct entry arrangements with Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) and Tralee Institute of Technology. 

    Institutes of Technology and other Colleges around the country may be offering opportunities for further studies.

    About Limerick College of Further Education

    Limerick College of Further Education is a long-established, state-funded and administered further education college. It is one of many centres of education run by Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. LCFE was known until 2008 as Limerick Senior College.

    LCFE offers Further Education (Post Leaving Certificate) programmes and Professional qualifications in a variety of disciplines and caters for approximately 1200 full-time and 3000 part-time learners. Its campuses are situated in the South-East of the city on Mulgrave Street (a short distance from the city centre) and also in East Limerick at Cappamore.
