Course details
This module will introduce the concepts, methodologies, standards and technologies used for diligent forward planning and adherence to protocols when embarking on a BIM project. A well-researched BIM Execution Plan (BEP) is a prerequisite to establish the expected outputs from the BIMs (including those downstream of the design process), file sharing formats, levels of detail, and model structures for interoperability. The module is important for strategic management and use of BIM in any AEC company.
On Completion of this module, the learner will be able to:
- Appreciate how to Manage BIM projects and formulate the ability to define the BIM deliverables in the form of information exchanges.
- Understand critical issues for realistic BIM Strategies to carry out an assessment and map BIM capability and maturity levels required to ‘fit’ project requirements.
- Have the ability to assess barriers to BIM implementation and address those barriers to ensure successful implementation of BIM at corporate, company and project level. Assess technical, semantic and organizational interoperability issues.
- Critically review internationally established frameworks for BIM protocols and standards. Establish key performance indicators for requiring BIM on projects, and the criteria for BIM implementation and the level of development of the models.
- Have the ability to plan and implement a BIM training programme, which incorporates established BIM protocols and standards.
