Course details

You will gain an insight into the beauty industry and have the opportunity to learn about a range of treatments, from make-up application to pedicures. You will also gain valuable experience in working with clients in a realistic salon environment.

What will I learn

First Year

Foundation Studies in English and Information Technology. Students study towards the internationally-recognised Cambridge English Language Assessments and the Cambridge International Certificate in IT Skills (validated by University of Cambridge International Examinations, CIE).

Second Year

In year two, level 3 (EFQ) Beauty Therapy students follow mandatory units that prepare them to work in the beauty industry. These include customer service, nail art, make-up, eye brows and eye lash treatments as well as the business and financial aspects of working in a salon or spa.

Third Year

In year three, level 4 (EFQ) students can either follow a general beauty therapy pathway or they can further specialise in spa treatments. Units covered in the general beauty therapy pathway include further study of the business and management aspects of the beauty industry and practical learning including gel-nail enhancements, advanced facial treatments, body structures and systems and body treatments. For students wishing to specialise in the spa treatments they would cover aromatherapy treatments, Indian head massage techniques, stone therapy and reflexology.

How will I benefit from taking this course?

Students will develop their skills and knowledge to work in the beauty industry. They will be introduced to the practical skills and techniques used in the different aspects of the industry as well as the business and management skills required in this fast-moving and exciting industry.
