Basic Hair Colouring

Course details

This course is endorsed by ITE and catered to participants with the necessary skills in Basic Hair colouring and are interested in joining the hairdressing industry as a hairstylist that could carry out basic Hair colouring.

What will I learn?

At the end of the training programme, the student will be able to perform the technique of:

• Apply Colouring to Virgin Hair
• Apply Colouring to Grey Hair
• Root and Re-growth Application

Course Outline

The basic hair colouring (modular course) comprise of the following:

Apply Colouring to Virgin Hair

Students are trained to understand the principles, characteristics and uses of hair colouring, the characteristics and uses for dye, the steps to select the the most suitable formulation for the customer, the various strengths and chemical action of hydrogen peroxide and the technique of performing virgin hair colouring.

Apply Colouring to Grey Hair

Students are trained to understand the causes of grey hair and the steps to colouring grey hair and the technique of performing grey hair colouring.

Root and Re-growth Application

Students are trained to understand the purpose of a root and re-growth application and the steps to performing the root and re-growth application and the technique to perform root and re-growth application.

Will I recieve a certificate of completion?

Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded the NITEC in Services Module Certificate by Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

Entry Requirements

Local course participants must possess any one of the following entry requirements in order to be eligible for Nitec Examinations.

1. Complete GCE ‘N’ level or any equivalent qualifications approved by ITE.
2. Entry Test by ITE (Test fees are paid to ITE). Applies to course participants that do not have the above qualifications.

Other than the mentioned pre-requisites, the students should also have the following:

1. Students must be able to read and write in English or Chinese. Other cases will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
2. Students should be of a minimum of 18 years of age to be eligible for the courses.
3. For foreign students, relevant passes are required.

How will I be assessed?

At the end of the course, you can register to sit for Nitec Examination. Upon passing both the practical and theory examinations, you will receive the NITEC in Services Module Certificate by Institute of Technical Education (ITE).
