Banking Systems and Operations Framework Egyptian Banking Institute

In this course, participants will learn about the banking system, the role of the Central Bank of Egypt and the role of banks in economic development. In addition, they will learn about retail banking, the variety of retail banking services and products offered, trade finance, and anti-money laundering requirements. Finally, participants will acquire the basic skills needed to perform a variety of banking operations.Course Description:

In this course, participants will learn about the banking system, the role of the Central Bank of Egypt and the role of banks in economic development. In addition, they will learn about retail banking, the variety of retail banking services and products offered, trade finance, and anti-money laundering requirements. Finally, participants will acquire the basic skills needed to perform a variety of banking operations.

  • Structure of commercial banks (main sectors and supportive sectors)

  • Issuing checkbooks for customers
  • Rent safe deposit boxes
  • Standing payment orders
  • Types of saving accounts (time deposits – CDs)
  • Cash operations
  • Foreign exchange
  • Types and collection of commercial papers “checks and bills”
  • Money transfers
  • Banking checks, certified checks, travelers checks
  • Definition of credit
  • Treasury and capital markets
  • Correspondent relationships
  • Summary of supportive sectors

Module 3: Retail Banking Operations

  • Retail banking

Assessment Strategy:

Participants will be assessed formally through an end of training course test
