    Course Overview

Petroleum refining has been in practice since the year 1738 when it was first reported in Russia that oil was being distilled to finished products. Since then, the art of petroleum refining has evolved to meet industry and government mandates for clean and reformulated fuels. The availability and continued discovery of oil has led to the evolution of modern refining to increase the conversion of heavier oils to produce more valuable finished products. The economic success of the refining industry has led to the growth that we enjoy today.

This course is intended to increase your knowledge regarding this special industry. You will learn the history behind some of the major development in this industry, how to characterize oil and why do we continue to invest in this industry.
