    The Risk Management for Islamic Financial Institutions course provides a comprehensive understanding of the concept and assessment of risks in Islamic financial institutions and enablesparticipants to appreciate the rationale behind risk management regulations and the evolution of such rules and regulations.The key types of risks that Islamic Financial institutions are exposed to are intensively covered, especially those that are unique to only Islamic finance. The course will also provide an overview of the tools used for risk analysis and assessment in Islamic financial institutions, including the application of principles of Basel II and IFSB for assessment of capital adequacy, supervisory review process and market discipline to the practices of Islamic banks.

    Learning Outcomes

    On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

    • Understand how the current financial regulatory system has evolved and what are its key institutions
    • Appreciate the need for risk management in banking in general and Islamic financial institutions
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the key types of risks that Islamic Financial institutions are exposed to
    • Understand the broad processes by which risks are controlled and monitored in an Islamic Financial institution
    • Apply the principles of the IFSB standards for assessment of capital adequacy, supervisory review process and market discipline to the practices of Islamic banks
