The Sukuk and Portfolio management course will familiarize participants with the Sukuk universe and its characteristics, as well as portfolio management techniques suited to various market environments. The course will provide practical experience in the construction and management of Sukuk portfolios, including the process of obtaining/interpreting trading quotes and executing trades.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Establish portfolio objectives with respect to risk and return and construct Sukuk based investment portfolios that best meet these objectives
- Apply portfolio management techniques to restructure Sukuk based portfolios in light of new information or revised objectives
- Demonstrate an ability to implement various techniques to preserve and enhance portfolio returns
- Demonstrate an an understanding of and appreciation of a range of contemporary issues in portfolio management of Sukuk and acquire knowledge of the institutional framework of the fixed funds management sector
- Take complex financial information pertaining to assets returns, and distil from this the information relevant for portfolio construction that are Shariah compliant
- Understand how to obtain Sukuk quotes and how to interpret them (price, Z-spread, YTM)
- Analyze behavior of Sukuk prices/yields and quantify sensitivity to market factors
- Learn techniques to manage the Sukuk portfolio in various market environments
