Course details
The Structuring sukuk course specifically discusses the Islamic capital market product of Sukuk or Islamic bonds, encompassing both its theoretical and practical aspects, but emphasising more on the latter. The course includes hands-on case studies of actual deals, as well as generic exercises and will give participants the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of deals through group workings and general discussions.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the burgeoning Sukuk product within the parameters promulgated by the AAOIFI Shariah standards in terms of its features, types, and mechanisms
- Discuss and examine the various structures and mechanisms of Sukuk that have already been implemented in the Islamic banking industry
- Provide a complete coverage of the salient legal and credit aspects related to varying Sukuk structures that are possible under different Shariah contracts
- Evaluate the trends in the Sukuk market with a focus on the benefits, costs and risks from the issuer?s as well as the investor?s points of view
- Discuss the potential of Sukuk in the restructuring and management of the balance sheets of Islamic banks.

This course is for inpiduals who would like to have an in-depth understanding of sukuk especially from a practical perspective. This may include and may not be limited to: credit officers, marketing officers, Shariah scholars, internal Shariah reviewers/officers, asset and fund managers, risk managers, or any inpidual whose work is related to Sukuk.
