Branch banking continues to represent the channel of choice for consumers even today despite the growing popularity of alternative distribution channels. For banks it is a key channel for client acquisition and will remain at the heart of retail banks? distribution strategy making branches both relevant and strategically important. As such, the branch manager is required to demonstrate a considerable set of skills including, good financial understanding, good people management skills, an ability to bring in sales revenues and retain the current customers whilst adhering to changing regulations and policy parameters. This course provides the Branch Managers with the relevant tools and skill sets required for the administration and efficient daily running of a branch office, including operations, lending, product sales and customer service. The program will also create a critical awareness on money laundering and anti-money laundering regulations and other issues surrounding it particularly as it affects day-to-day banking transactions.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of a branch manager
  • Develop skill sets necessary for a more efficient management of branch operations, lending, queue management, sales, service,? complaint resolution
  • Increase revenue and sales through? cross-selling,? retention , marketing initiatives and a pro-active? persion of routine transactions to e-channels
  • Understand and incorporate KYC and money laundering requirements? into customer transactions
  • Motivate and supervise staff, effectively manage branch resources, maximize customer relationships, and work to achieve the bank's goals
  • Identify the opportunities for improving the profitability and the efficacy of? branch operations and? improving need-based communication between customers and bank staff
