Course details
The Versant Aviation English Test (VAET) - Certification Test is delivered online using the Ordinate automated testing system. It is designed to asses your ability to understand and use ICAO phraseology as well as common English. The test is intended to measure the six holistic descriptors in the ICAO language proficiency scale:
- Pronunciation
- Structure
- Vocabulary
- Fluency
- Comprehension
- Interactions.
Outline
The test result will be evaluated and rated according to the Aviation English Langage Proficiency Scale, as shown in the table below.
- Level 1 Pre-elementary
- Level 2 Elementary
- Level 3 Pre-operational
- Level 4 Operational
- Level 5 Extended
- Level 6 Expert
Validity indicates if and when the candidate needs to be reassessed.
ICAO Level 3 or below indicates that the candidate is not fulfilling the Aviation English Language Proficiency requirements and needs additional English language training before being reassessed.
