Students taking this diploma will be trained to an exceptionally high standard in 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawing, and management tools commonly used in Engineering drafting and Designing. Drawing skills for employment in the engineering and construction industries will be emphasized. Students will gain a solid foundation in their understanding of AutoDesk Inventor and AutoDesk CIVIL 3D, used in civil engineering and public works. Students will also acquire skills in design areas such as desktop publishing, computer graphics and web design.
This 35-week diploma program is fully instructor-led, allowing students to navigate quickly through engineering and design theory and AutoCAD software. The curriculum includes experiential lectures and workshops facilitated by specialized industry experts - all instructors have relevant designations and at least 5 years experience in the industry. The program also includes work experience (practicum) at various small and mid-sized design firms throughout the lower mainland. The successful completion of 14 courses, including a 4-week practicum is required for program graduation.
The AutoCAD Drafting and Design Specialist Diploma program consists of 14 core courses. With the exception of the practicum, all courses are experiential classroom - based lectures and workshops.
