The use of computer aided design (CAD) systems in industry has become an essential part of the modern working environment. CAD is used at all stages of the design process, from conceptualisation and production of working drawings to the production of virtual reality images. City and Guilds AutoCAD courses are widely accepted in industry as the most recognised qualification in the use of CAD. This part-time evening AutoCAD course aims to allow learners to develop the ability to apply the drafting procedures required to create and modify existing 3D objects, either surfaces or solids, at any position within the three dimensional space.
AutoCAD 3D
- Apply appropriate commands to set the 3D modelling environment
- Create and use working planes at any required position/attitude within 3D space
- Define and use co-ordinate points at any position within the 3D space
- Apply appropriate commands to construct the whole or part of a 3D model using the best available method-surface or solid modelling
- Apply appropriate commands to modify 3D solid objects
- Apply appropriate commands to perform 3D operations on existing objects
- Apply appropriate commands to view 3D model in a variety of display formats
- Print/plot/export 3D models.

Mature Students - If you are 23 years or over from the 1st January of this year, you can apply for this course directly using the College’s online application form. A member of the College’s admissions team will be in touch to discuss your course entry requirements. Under 23 Years - 5 Ordinary Level, Grade D3s or above in your Leaving Certificate (subjects to include Maths and a language) or equivalent exam taken. All applicants must be a user of Microsoft Office. Participants must have completed an AutoCAD 2D course.
