Course details

Arabic calligraphy (Islamic calligraphy), is the artistic practice of handwriting, or calligraphy. This art form is based on the Arabic script, which for a long time was used by all Muslims in their respective languages. They used it to represent God because they denied representing God with images. Arabic writing is characterized by being connected and starts form right to left.

Arabic, Persian and Ottoman Turkish calligraphy is associated with abstract arabesque motifs on the walls and ceilings of mosques as well as on the page. Contemporary artists in the Islamic world draw on the heritage of calligraphy to use calligraphic inscriptions or abstractions in their work.

There are many types of Arabic calligraphy like the Kufic script, the Thuluth script, the Ta'liq / Nasta'liq / Farsi scripts, the Riq'a script and the Diwani script.

Arabic calligraphy course begins with teaching you the Arabic alphabet and writing in the Naskh script, the standard Arabic script, then it teaches you the other types of Arabic calligraphy.
