This 1 year, full-time foundation programme is for learners who wish to develop an understanding of various aspects of social issues in our community today. It will equip learners to find employment in a social care setting or to progress to Higher Education.

Work Experience*
*Learners are responsible for finding their own work experience placement in a social/community care setting (timetabled one day per week)
Entry Requirements
Applicants must have Leaving Certificate, LCA or equivalent.
Holders of a QQI Level 4 Award are also eligible to apply.
Mature learners (over 23) may be exempt from the above academic requirements.
In addition applicants will have to undertake an interview.
Employment/Progression Opportunities
Award holders are qualified to work as professional carers in social, health or community environments.
Universities, Institutes of Technology and other Colleges around the country may be offering opportunities for further studies.

About Limerick College of Further Education
Limerick College of Further Education is a long-established, state-funded and administered further education college. It is one of many centres of education run by Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. LCFE was known until 2008 as Limerick Senior College.
LCFE offers Further Education (Post Leaving Certificate) programmes and Professional qualifications in a variety of disciplines and caters for approximately 1200 full-time and 3000 part-time learners. Its campuses are situated in the South-East of the city on Mulgrave Street (a short distance from the city centre) and also in East Limerick at Cappamore.
