Course details

This module aims to provide the learner with the knowledge of the structure and function of the human body and to understand the relationship between the systems of the body.

This module can be used as an elective towards the Level 5 Award in Healthcare Support.

Programme Aim:

The objectives of this course are:

  • To be familiar with the human body as an entity
  • To gain knowledge of the structure and function of the human body
  • To understand the interrelationship between the systems of the body

At the end of the course the learner will be able to;

  • Differentiate between Anatomy and Physiology
  • Describe the structure and function of a cell
  • Identify the major categories and functions of joints
  • Outline the composition of bone, the structure and function of blood
  • Identify the muscles in the body

Entry Requirement

Minimum of Level 4 certificate standard of education. Strong interest in the provision of quality care in a healthcare setting.
