Introduction
The Liberal Arts course enables learners to acquire a broad base of knowledge in a variety of subjects and is of particular value to those aiming to continue their studies at third level, especially those preparing to undertake an Arts degree. This course is also beneficial to mature learners hoping to re-enter formal education.
Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate (or equivalent qualification), with minimum 5 passes, to include English. A higher grade ‘C’ in one subject is desirable. LCA with distinction may qualify with appropriate references. If you are a mature student these requirements need not apply and applications will be considered based on a proven interest in the humanities, history or communications. Entry may be subject to interview.

Course Structure
This Liberal Arts course introduces learners to research skills, academic writing skills and methods of study that are necessary for successful participation at third level. The course also incorporates research into suitable avenues of progression for those wishing to continue their studies upon successful completion.
Career Options | Progression
Successful completion of the QQI Level 5 Certificate in General Studies allows progression to further studies at Institutes of Technology/Universities through the Higher Education Links Scheme. NUI Maynooth, UCD, St Pat's Drumcondra, UCC and other colleges have places available across a variety of degree programmes such as Arts and Humanities.
