Introduction

This course is designed to introduce learners to the foundations of television and digital film production. You will acquire a comprehensive overview of the theory and practice of digital film production, single camera production and film and video editing.

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate with 5 passes or Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent. For mature students applications may be considered based on a proven interest in Film & Television Production. Entry may be subject to interview.

Course Structure

Practical film production experience, editing and broadcasting of programmes forms an integral part of the course. Learners will have opportunities to experiment with new visual ideas and concepts and will produce a portfolio of work demonstrating technical competencies and skills required for effective television and film production. A minimum of 10 days’ work experience must be completed.

Career Options | Progression

Successful completion of the QQI Level 5 Certificate in Film & Television Production allows progression to further study at Institutes of Technology/Universities through the Higher Education Links Scheme. Employment opportunities include areas such as film/video, TV and new media production sectors.
