Course details
Developed by Miller and Rollnick, Motivational Interviewing is a client-centred approach that elicits behavioural changes by assisting individuals to explore and resolve ambivalence. This approach is especially helpful with individuals who are less motivated. Research has shown Motivational Interviewing to be helpful with a wide range of client groups and issues.
This Advanced course will consolidate the information gained over previous introductory workshops and will include Intermediate Level Motivational Interviewing training. It will allow for integration of theory into practice and offer the opportunity for participants to bring experiences from their work into the workshop. The Learning Curve Institute offers participants the opportunity to bring along transcripts etc (suitably made anonymous) for discussion over the course of the workshop. This service is offered as it is a real examination of the implementation of theory into practice and will ultimately deepen the understanding and practice of the participant.
The workshop emphasises and applies the theory and practice of Motivational Interviewing as an evidence based treatment approach.
Throughout the workshop various methods will be used to facilitate learning, including lecture format, demonstration of techniques, videos presentations, diad and triad exercises and feedback. There will be a greater emphasis on the the practice than in more preliminary trainings.
