The course is Integrative in approach. Each course module is assessed separately, by a written assignment and / or a Viva.
"The real masterpiece, in the case of supervision, is that the client is safe and the supervisee is supported to learn from the peaks and valleys of the work". Clare Burke, past student of the PCI College/Middlesex University Advanced Diploma in Supervision, gives her ideas on supervision, raising some interesting thoughts on the role.

- Group and Organisational Supervision
Learning Outcomes:
- To review, understand and critically reflect on theories of clinical supervision.
- To understand developmental models of supervision and be able to apply them in supervision practice.
- To isolate tasks, functions and roles of supervision and learn how to work with them in actual supervision sessions.
- To learn the skills of being a supervisor and be able to implement them in work with supervisees.
- To be able to help supervisees use supervision effectively.
- To be aware of how inpiduals and groups learn and how to use experiential learning as a basis of learning in supervision.
- To work with supervisees in one-to-one and group settings.
- To be ethically aware and to have learned a process of ethical decision - making in supervision.
- To learn the skills of reflexivity.
- To be able to set up, contract for, maintain and terminate a supervisory arrangement effectively.
- To be able to give and receive feedback.
- To write clear and honest supervisory reports.
- To be sensitive to the impact of organisations on supervision practice.
Additional Course Requirements:
50 hours of supervised Supervision Practice
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be qualified practitioners who have begun supervising counsellors/psychotherapists (trainees or experienced) or are about to do so.
- A minimum of three years experience as a practitioner is required.
- Recommendation from applicant’s supervisor.
Entry is by application form and essay submission and applicants may be invited for interview. Evidence that an applicant meets the entry requirements must be furnished at interview (original transcripts in hardcopy).
Applicants are required to submit a 500 word essay of why you wish to engage in supervisor training.Your submission should show that you have the competencies to meet the requirements of the course and the ability to write essays to the required standard and to set up supervisory arrangements where you act as a supervisor.
