    The Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Critical Care) Course is offered to Registered Nurse who wish to advance their career in critical care nursing. It aims to provide nurses with an opportunity to consolidate and extend their gained theoretical knowledge and improve competences in critical care nursing.

    COURSE OBJECTIVES

    This Course provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate competency of practice expected of a critical care nurse in various critical care settings, according to Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) Standards of Practice for Nurses and Midwives and Professional Ethics and Code of Conduct.   In addition, this course aims to cultivate good interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, reflective and caring knowledge and skills to provide quality care to critically ill patients, guided by evidence-based practice from perse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

    At the end of the course, the students should acquire the ability to respond promptly in emergency situations and engage actively in personal and professional development.

    The course consists of 10 modules:

    • ADC103 – Law and Ethics in Healthcare Practice
    • ADC105 – Psychosocial Perspectives in Advanced Nursing
    • ADC106 – Advanced Nursing Research
    • ADC107 – Advanced Nursing Practice  and Healthcare Management
    • CCN101 – Pathophysiology in Critical Care Nursing
    • CCN103 – Clinical Pharmacology in Critical Care Nursing
    • CCN104 – Health Assessment
    • CCN112 – Advanced Critical Care Nursing Practice
    • CCN113 – Advanced Critical Care Nursing Skills
    • CCN114 – Clinical Practicum

    WHO SHOULD ATTEND

    SNB Registered Nurses who have no formal post basic or advanced qualification in critical care nursing, especially those working in critical care or high dependency areas.

    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    All applicants should be registered with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) and need to present:

    • Diploma in Nursing from a polytechnic in Singapore, or
    • An equivalent local or international professional qualification
    • At least six (6) months to one (1) year of critical care work experience in intensive care unit (ICU) or high dependency unit (HDU)
    • Proof of recommendation from sponsor or employer

    All applicants must pass the medical examination, be free from physical handicap, should not test positive for Hepatitis B and C antigen, and HIV, should have immunity to Hepatitis B and C, and be certified fit by Singapore medical practitioners to pursue the Course.

    International Students

    • English with IELTS of 5.0 or TOEFL of 500 for written or 173 for computerized, can be used to supplement applications.
    • Applicants with overseas educational qualifications will be assessed for their suitability by Parkway College’s recruitment officer and approved by Students Affairs and Academic Committee.

    * Applicants must be at least 18 years old to be admitted to this course.

    GRADUATION CRITERIA

    The College shall award the Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Critical Care) certificate when the student has met the following requirements:

    • achieve at least a Grade D for all examined subjects
    • met all financial and administrative obligations to the College
