Course details
An Advanced Diploma in Engineering (awarded by M2 Academy) provides students with:
- A fundamental understanding of mechanical or electrical engineering and the basic skills employers desire
- A pathway into employment and/or a degree
- Strong links with industry through guest speakers and networking events
- A platform for building a successful career in general engineering or mechanical and electrical engineering specifically
- The option of pursuing studies offshore, and
- Knowledge and skills supporting a range of career options outside the engineering field
The programme is designed for students with the following qualifications:
- 17 years old and above
- 3 GCE “A” Level credits with average C grades including English & Mathematics or Higher Nitec ≥ GPA2.5 (equivalence considered through interview)
OR
- GCE O-Level, GCE N-Level or ITE Nitec PLUS an approved tertiary preparation certificate (or equivalent)
- IELTs 5.5 or equivalent (For international students only)
The programme is also suitable for mature-age learners looking to return to study and progress their career.
The programme adopts a flexible delivery mode with face-to-face and online materials available. It combines lectures, tutorials, seminars and workshop sessions, with a student to faculty ratio of 1:36. Students will be assessed based on written assignments, presentations, group projects and written examinations.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Understand the engineering body of knowledge relevant to the engineering specialisation, supported by a foundation in Natural and Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science
- Understand management techniques required by professional engineers
- Apply current industry tools and techniques embedded in the project-based learning philosophy of the degree in preparation for professional practice
- Practise the skills and motivation to undertake reflection and personal development that are essential for the lifelong learning of a professional engineer
- Apply skills and experience in solving engineering problems using a creative, innovative, practical and systems-based approach
- Work independently and in teams
- Practice ethical conduct, as well as recognise social and professional responsibilities
- Communicate with professional or community audiences, using a range of techniques
