    Programme Overview

    This top-up programme equips learners with advanced media training in the areas of radio, sound and documentary production. Workbased learning is a specific requirement of this programme. Participants gain on air experience in the College’s new broadcast media centre which provides them with “real-world” education in sync with the requirements of the radio and media industries.

    Entry Requirements

    • Applicants must hold a QQI Level 5 Award in the chosen area.
    • Mature learners (over 23) may be exempt from the above academic requirements.
    • In addition applicants will have to undertake an interview.

    Employment/Progression Opportunities

    • Award holders will have acquired the requisite knowledge and skills for employment in radio and other areas of the media industry.
    • Institutes of Technology and other Colleges around the country may be offering opportunities for further studies. this Media Programme has a direct entry arrangement with Mary Immaculate College Limerick as well as an advance entry agreement into 2 of the BA Media Programmes at IT Tralee.     Limerick College of Further Education is a long-established, state-funded and administered further education college. It is one of many centres of education run by Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. LCFE was known until 2008 as Limerick Senior College.

    LCFE offers Further Education (Post Leaving Certificate) programmes and Professional qualifications in a variety of disciplines and caters for approximately 1200 full-time and 3000 part-time learners. Its campuses are situated in the South-East of the city on Mulgrave Street (a short distance from the city centre) and also in East Limerick at Cappamore.
