Course Aim

This course for adults is an ideal opportunity for you to complete your education.  It can also assist your entry to University, Institutes of Technology or PLC courses.

Who is this for?

Applicants must be 18 years old on 1 September of the year of entry.

No previous academic records are necessary but students must be at Junior Certificate standard.

An interview is compulsory.

International students must sit English language and mathematics tests unless previous students of the

Qualification Received

  • On successfully completing the exam you will receive the Leaving Certificate from the Department of Education and Science.

Career Opportunities

Many students use the Leaving Certificate to gain employment or to go on to further study. The Leaving Certificate assists entry to the Science and Business area as well as the Arts / Humanities at third level.  It is not only recognized in this country but it is also very highly regarded in many other countries as a qualification for entry into third level colleges. Finally, it is especially useful for mature students embarking on a total career change.

About Cabra Community College

We_They is a college of the City of Dublin Education Training Board (CDETB) and the school is included in the Delivering Equality of in Education (DEIS) scheme. We_They provides courses such as the Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate, Post Leaving Certificate (PLC), Adult Leaving Certificate the Vocational Training Opportunity Scheme (VTOS), the Back to Education Initiative (BTEI), community literacy schemes and an extensive range of night classes.

We_They, formally Colaiste Eanna was first opened in 1945 by the City of Dublin VEC (now CDETB) as a vocational school for the boys and girls of We_They. It was the first ever co-educational school of its kind in Ireland. We_They is a dynamic vibrant school situated in the heart of the community in Cabra, Co Dublin. It is 10 minutes from the centre of Dublin with easy access to the M50 and M1.

The school has gone through many transitions since it opened in 1945. The school has greatly expanded its range of courses in the intervening period. It now provides education for second level students and adult students. We recognise the need for ongoing growth and development in order to meet the changing needs of our students. In this era of lifelong learning the college is committed to responding to the needs of the students and the community.
