Course details

This full day course focuses on assembling a large scale audio project using multiple interviews, pieces of music and atmospheres. It is aimed at feature and documentary makers who wish to take more control of their productions.

  • Pre-Requisites

You have completed the Adobe Audition – Intermediate course or the old ‘Mastering your Cool Edit Skills’ course.

Training Content

MORNING: Processing Audio Clips

  • Refresher: workflow; purpose of edit view, file management, project backup, batch processing, presets
  • Logging: doing a paper edit, working on your assembly.
  • Edit View: corrective processes - removing clicks, pops, hiss, noise, spectrum editing
  • Edit View: apply Graphic Equaliser and Dynamics Processing to clips
  • Practical #1: process audio clips to standard for MTV project.
  • MID-MORNING: Multi-Track Production
  • MTV: Track labeling and laying for 2+ tracks.
  • MTV: Move, Copy, Cut, Trim, Clip Edge Dragging
  • MTV: Avoiding bottlenecks: using group, snapping and lock functions
  • MTV: Automation – fade in, ducking, fade out
  • MTV: Apply Pan effects
  • MTV: Real time SFX: EQ, Dynamics, Reverberation
  • Practical #2: create session to specification.

AFTERNOON: Mixing

  • MTV: Defining loops and building ‘made-to-measure’ sequences
  • MTV: Mixing - using the Adobe Audition Mixer/MasterFader and onboard clip and track controls.
  • MTV: Bouncing completed production to single audio file.
  • MTV: Mastering for different media – broadcast, CD, podcast.
  • Practical #3: Finalise and Mixdown project to specification
