Course details
This module aims to provide the learner with the skills, knowledge and competence to provide holistic care for older people in a variety of care settings working under the direction and supervision of nursing staff.
It is an elective module towards the Level 5 Award in Healthcare Support.
Programme Aim:
The objectives of this module are to:
- Demonstrate good work practices in the provision of holistic care for patients/clients
- Gain an understanding of the elements of activities of living
- Demonstrate how to assist a patient/client in the activities of living
- Enhance the quality of life of patients/clients
The learner will:
- Discuss a range of work practices in the provision of individual holistic care for clients
- Analyse the activities of living to include the 5 main concepts of the model of living
- Implement a range of tasks carried out when caring for a patient in a safe environment
- Employ the skills of a healthcare assistant in providing care for patients to include an awareness of the importance of nutrition, elimination, fluid balance, weight reporting etc.
Entry Requirement
Minimum of Level 4 certificate standard of education. Strong interest in the provision of quality care in a healthcare setting.
