This two year Account­ing Tech­ni­cian course is cer­ti­fied by Account­ing Technician’s Ire­land the lead­ing pro­fes­sional body for Account­ing Tech­ni­cians in this coun­try. This qual­i­fi­ca­tion allows grad­u­ates work along­side qual­i­fied accoun­tants in busi­ness, indus­try, pri­vate prac­tice and pub­lic ser­vices. This is a highly regarded qual­i­fi­ca­tion that greatly enhances employ­a­bil­ity and career prospects. Grad­u­ates may choose to pur­sue fur­ther stud­ies to qual­ify as pro­fes­sional accoun­tants or reg­is­tered auditors.

Entry require­ments:

The min­i­mum entry require­ments as deter­mined by ATI are five passes on ordi­nary level papers or four passes, of which at least two are on higher level papers in the Leav­ing Cer­tifi­cate. Passes must be obtained in Eng­lish and one of either math­e­mat­ics or account­ing. Mature appli­cants or those hold­ing qual­i­fi­ca­tions equiv­a­lent to leav­ing cer­tifi­cate may apply to the col­lege and cases will be exam­ined indi­vid­u­ally. All appli­cants whose first lan­guage is not Eng­lish will be tested before entry.

Account­ing Tech­ni­cians are the skilled sup­port staff work­ing in the area of account­ing and finance. Depend­ing on results stu­dents may pur­sue fur­ther study at third level to become qual­i­fied pro­fes­sional accoun­tants and reg­is­tered auditors.
