Certain prior qualifications may entitle the student to exemptions from some or all papers.
As well as satisfying the examination requirements, students must also meet the necessary training requirement set by ACCA. Candidates studying the Diploma as part of the ACCA Qualification must gain three year’s relevant work experience to complete the qualification as a whole.
The practical element may be completed within any employment sector, whether corporate, public practice or private sector, and in any size of organisation.
ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business – Career Opportunities
The field of accounting offers a perse range of career opportunities. The Diploma in Accounting and Business programme provides greater access to the ACCA Qualification and aims to satisfy the needs of employers by allowing of employers by allowing inpiduals to develop the relevant technical knowledge and practical skills required to perform in accounting technician roles. The Diploma is suitable to those who wish to or are already working in the field of:
- basic bookkeeping
- a trainee accountant in a commercial organisation or accounting practice
- an accounts clerk in the public sector.
Overview
ACCA is one of the world’s leading accountancy bodies and the Diploma in Accounting and Business is internationally recognised and highly regarded. Candidates who successfully gain the Diploma in Accounting and Business via the Foundations in Accountancy route can continue their studies onto the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) Qualification and qualify at technician level. Candidates who opt to continue with the CAT Qualification should note that this would entail completing FA1, MA1, FA2 and MA2, or on the basis of practical experience claim exemptions from these exams.
Alternatively, candidates can continue their studies and become a professional-level accountant. On completion of the Diploma, candidates can transfer to the ACCA Qualification and continue from F4 onwards as the Diploma in Accounting and Business is comparable to F1, F2 and F3 on the ACCA Qualification programme.

Information
Assessment:
In order to ensure maximum levels of student achievement, the course is assessed through the use of continuous assessments and mock ACCA examinations. Students will sit ACCA examinations in both June and December of each year of study.
Award:
On successful completion of the Diploma in Accounting and Business, students have to choice to continue with to study for Certified Accounting Technician Qualifications or to transfer to the ACCA Qualification programme. Academic Progression Opportunities Successful completion of the Diploma in Accounting and Business examinations offers an exemption from the three Knowledge Papers of the ACCA Qualification (formerly known as the ACCA Professional Scheme) and students may automatically transfer to Skills Papers. By taking the examinations of the ACCA Qualification, students may qualify as accountants and may achieve a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
