The concept of lightweighting is a hot research topic in the manufacturing sector. One of the most effective methods to achieve lightweighting is to use advanced lightweight materials instead of conventional materials. Among commonly available joining technologies, the use of adhesive joints attracts most attention due to their advantages of enabling the development of lightweight, cost-effective and 5 highly integrated structures with more uniform load distribution and improved damage tolerance. 

in this tutorial, you will be familiarized with the concept of: 

• 3D Cohesive Element 

• 2D Cohesive Surface 

• XFEM Method 

• Buckling and Post Buckling 

The aim of this course is to use these features in Abaqus software in order to create various joints such as Single Lap joint, Double Cantilever Beam, End Notched Flexure.
